Senator Dayo Faduyile has expressed shock and sadness over the NAF ATR-42 Jet which crashed on Monday morning near a Naval base at Igbokoda Ondo state.<\/p>\n
The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin, Edo state and was heading to Lagos when it crashed with 25 passengers and 7 crew members on board.<\/p>\n
In a statement of condolence made available to Newsmen in Okitipupa, Faduyile who described the incident as tragic, painful and heartbreaking noted that the bad news had thrown the entire Ondo South into mourning over the loss of lives.<\/p>\n
According to him, he received the tragic news with a great shock which he said signifies a black Monday to us in Ondo south.<\/p>\n
“I stand in solidarity with the families of the bereaved and residents of Igbokoda and Ilaje at this trying time”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Obviously shaken by the sad incident, Senator Faduyile said “My heart goes to the families who lost their loved ones, the state Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, The LGA chairman, Hon. Maurice Oripenaiye, Olu of Igbokoda, Oba Afolabi OdidiOmo.” <\/em>Adding that the loss of lives was not just to the families of the victims but to Ondo South and Ondo state at Large.<\/p>\n
The Ondo South senator called on relevant agencies, especially the Nigeria safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) to launch a thorough and adequate investigation into the incident with a view to preventing a future re- occurrence. He thanked all the rescue agencies and locals who responded to the emergency, rescue operations and evacuation efforts.<\/p>\n
Faduyile prayed for the souls of the reposted, their families and loved ones left behind and for them to have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.<\/p>\n
In response to the sad news, president Bola Tinubu has declared 3 days of national mourning for all the airforce personnel who died. Flags are to be flown at half mast nationwide.<\/p>\n
