The federal government is leaving nothing to chances and working day and night to ensure that Nigerians are kept united despite our ethnic and religious differences thereby keeping Nigeria as an inseparable entity.

President Bola Tinubu made this remark at the international conference on National security for sustainable socio–economic Development held in Abuja .

The event that took place at Bola Ahmed International conference centre Abuja, was jointly hosted by the Nigerian Islamic organisation ( JIBWIS) and the Muslim World league( MWL) based in Saudi Arabia.

President Tinubu who was represented by the Deputy senate president, Senator Barau Jibrin said the government is working very hard to give security to our nation and also collaborate with other countries in the world to ensure global peace.

The president noted that the conference is expected to deliberate on emerging trends that pose threat against our nationals as well as vigilant security systems so as to chart a way forward as its contribution to consolidate government efforts in addressing national security challenges. “This government is working tirelessly everyday to ensure its unity among the nations of the world and the people of the world. This government is determined to ensure we remain united in our country despite our differences, we should work together and allow this country to remain a united Nigeria and a United nation”

The Nigeria number one citizen charged the participants to take advantage of the internationality of the event to tap and share from a pool of diverse and rich experiences of those in attendance so as to.contribute to the ongoing debate of searching for wider options for a more sustainable, regional,continental and global peace in this era of global security turbulence.

The father of the day,The sultan of sokoto,His Excellency, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar 111, expressed his optimism that Nigeria can fashion out solutions to what he described as” Nigeria’s numerous problems” adding that Nigeria is not immune from happenings in the world and that some countries are worse off than Nigeria.

The sultan noted that if Nigerians are committed to the challenges facing the country with Christians and Muslims having mutual respect for one another without any mistrust or suspicion, the nation will overcome its present challenges and move on to a better season of hope and glory.

The traditional ruler cautioned those using the social media to cast aspersions and abuses on leaders at various levels without justification with a warning that every idle word spoken against anyone shall be accounted for before the Almighty God.

He implored Nigerians to think more on “How can I contribute to the development of Nigeria and not allow it to break into 1 million Nigeria” which according to him does not solve the problems facing Nigeria.

A CROSS SECTION OF PARTICIPANTS

The conference programme seeks to address issues on Terrorism and violent extremism, Banditry and Kidnapping, Community resilience, interfaith and inter–community relations, National cohesion, peaceful coexistence and counter extremism.

Participants at the conference include Governors,members of the National Assembly, state Legislators, Islamic scholars, Religious leaders, Traditional rulers, Diplomats, Captains of industry, security experts and other stakeholders.
