Senator Dayo Faduyile has reacted to the sad incident of Okitipupa flood that affected several communities leading to both physical and emotional trauma for the residents of the area under Okitipupa local government, Ondo state.
The flooding was as a result of persistent heavy rainfall which destroyed properties worth millions of naira and displaced several people.
In his official reaction to the incident, the Ondo South senator sent a message of sympathy to all the constituents affected with a promise to reach out to appropriate quarters with a view to finding lasting solution through ecological funding from the federal government .
Professor Faduyile called on both the Ondo state government and the state Emergency management Authority to respond to what he described has become a perennial challenge facing the people during each rainy season.
He implored the people to ensure that they shun all acts and activities that are blocking the drainage channels which in turn hinders free flow of water if they desire to leave peacefully without any flood incident. Professor Faduyile expressed Optimism that the Ondo state government under His Excellency, Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa,state Emergency management authority and the state ministry of environment are all on top of the situation.
Speaking specifically on the degrading condition of Aiyetoro,a coastline community at Ilaje which is prone to regular sea incursion with attendant consequences, Senator Faduyile said the issue will be tsbled before the senate at the plenary through a motion that will address the issue and bring a permanent relief to the people very soon.
Though the extent of damage and degree of losses have not been fully accounted for,the flood incident which affected lots of communities under Okitipupa local government area destroyed roads, affected homes and led to disruption of transportation and economic activities.
