The president of Masters Energy Group and former minister of state for mines and steel Development, Dr Uchechukwu ogah has implored the federal government to ensure that Nigeria gold deposits worth over 57 billion US dollars is not stolen by expatriates and local collaborators through illegal mining activities.
Dr Ogah made this remark at the 2025 annual conference of National association of Energy Correspondents NAEC held at Eko Hotels, Lagos.
Speaking as the chairman of the one day event,Dr Uchechukwu ogah noted that the huge gold deposits spread across various states in Nigeria if well developed could become a great catalyst to reviving the Nigerian economy adding that he was aware of this while he served as a cabinet member under the late president Muhammadu Buhari government.
He advised that if more attention could be paid to the rich mineral resources endowed upon Nigeria by God,the nation should have nothing to do with poverty nor under Development in all spheres of life.
The former minister of state for mines and steel Development commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as “great initiatives and reforms that brought the rebounds being witnessed in the Nigeria oil and gas sector presently.
He asked government to step up security surveillance around Nigeria’s oil installations through drones deployment using technology to enhance safety of oil and gas workers and equipment which will boost investors confidence in the industry.
As a way of getting profound prosperity stories within the oil and gas industry in Nigeria, Dr Uchechukwu ogah counselled partnership with Nigerian universities for formulation of ideas that can be translated to measurable and tangible achievements in addition to providing level playing ground for all players in the industry.
The president of the Masters Energy group asserted that the Nigeria energy future is bright with great prospects for explosion if all stakeholders can be on the same page with a focus committed to achieving prosperity for Nigeria and her teeming population .
