Early August 2026: The Heavens opened up in obedience to nature’s time table beyond the calculations of every human mortal. The disaster strikes unannounced. Heavy rains poured torrentially and this triggered severe flooding across Okitipupa, submerging homes, farmland, damaged properties that were estimated to be in millions while means of livelihood were badly affected.
Naturally, many of the residents in the flood ravaged areas were distressed, some displaced from their homes while several others watched helplessly as the flood waters washed away some of their sources of daily existence. It was traumatic and emotionally horrifying for many as some burst into uncontrollable tears.

By Sunday August 9th while many people were still counting their losses painfully, Senator Dayo Faduyile went directly into the affected communities for an on the spot inspection. He visited areas like, Aja Akinneyin/Ijokodo along Ikoya road, Sedara Street off Omowa area, Lagos Garage, Yewa along the General Hospital Road, Agbala Iyantan and Agbala Lijofi.
This was more than a courtesy visit as Faduyile told the victims: “I have come to identify with you, to sympathise with you and to let you know that you are not in this alone”. He pledged to work with the relevant Emergency management authorities to secure relief materials.

By August 10 2026: The appeal for help moves beyond Okitipupa. As a follow up to the inspection, Senator Dayo Faduyile formally sought intervention from the Ondo state Emergency management Authority and assured affected residents that efforts were being made to secure immediate relief as well as pursue longer term solutions to the recurring flooding problem.

August 14 2026: National Emergency management Authority ( NEMA) responded as the intervention moved to the next level. NEMA personnel were mobilised to the entire Ondo South to inspect affected communities and compile data on victims so that only genuinely affected victims across the six local government areas would get the relief materials.

Tuesday, September 29, Relief finally reaches the people. At Okitipupa, the waiting game ended as the relief materials Distribution was flagged off from Okitipupa and Ese odo local governments. Hundreds of beneficiaries beaming with smiles of joy received food and household items, including rice, beans, Garri, vegetable oil, mosquito nets, beds and other household materials.
From Tears to Smiles: What began with submerged homes, damaged properties and displaced families ended at least for the moment with relief, gratitude and renewed hope as beneficiaries collected materials to take home.

In essence, the journey from seeing the suffering to making a commitment, to pursuing the intervention and finally seeing the promised relief reach the people offers a picture of representation driven by urgency.

In a back to back strategic approach, Senator Faduyile Back to school initiative of distribution of educational materials to students in Government community schools in the hinterland adds another dimension to his urgency of purpose in his legislative representation agenda.

In summary, while taking educational initiative step addreses a future crisis and prevents the danger of seeing children being left behind because of poverty, location or inadequate learning resources, together, the two interventions of getting relief materials to traumatised flood victims and giving educational materials to students of government community schools in hinterland areas tells a powerful story graphically that helping people during trying times is symbolic and humane while investing at the same time in the future of today’s children who needs care to be groomed as leaders of tomorrow.
With all these activities unfolding, Senator Dayo Faduyile is making a profound statement that time is not to be spent, it is something to be accounted for.

With barely eight months of the present political cycle ahead, everyday carries a responsibility: Every constituency visit, Every intervention, and Every engagement with the people assumes a different meaning when a public office holder is conscious that his time is limited
