As Nigeria marks its 66th independence Anniversary today, October 1st, Senator Dayo Faduyile has called on Nigerians to focus more on the values and aspirations that unite the country than on the challenges and differences confronting the nation.
Faduyile in an independence Day message obtained by Crude Reports magazine said the occasion should provide an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the journey of the nation while renewing their collective commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and united country.
He acknowledged that Nigeria continues to face significant challenges, but stressed that the strength of the nation lies in the ability of its people to rise above their differences and work together in the national interest.
According to the professor of pathology and Forensic medicine, Nigeria’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than division, with citizens across ethnic, religious and political divides recognising their shared identity and common destiny as Nigerians.
The Ondo South representative urged Nigerians to place national unity, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility at the centre of the country’s next phase of development, adding that Independence Day should not only be a Celebration of Nigeria’s freedom, but also a reminder that the responsibility for building the Nigeria of the people’s dreams rest on everyone.
Senator Faduyile expressed Optimism that despite the difficulties facing the country, Nigeria possesses the human and material resources to overcome its challenges and emerge stronger.
The federal lawmaker called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to the nation, saying, what unites the country must always be greater than what divides it.
As Nigeria celebrates 66 years of Independence, Faduyile urged citizens to renew their faith in the country and contribute in their respective spheres, to building a more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.
