The Ondo South representative, Senator Dayo Faduyile has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to victims of the August flood disaster in Okitipupa and Ese odo local government areas of Ondo South.
The flag off which took place on Tuesday, September 29 in Okitipupa attracted hundreds of beneficiaries drawn from the two local governments who went home with food items and household materials.
It would be recalled that following the heavy july/August flooding which ravaged Okitipupa, Senator Faduyile visited the affected areas with an assurance to the victims that he will reach out to National Emergency management Authority and ensure that necessary relief materials are provided to cushion the effect of the flood.
Areas worst hit by the flood and inspected by Senator Faduyile then include, Aja Akinneyin Quarter along Ikoya road, Akoko Sedara/Ajagbale New site, off Omowa Street and the General Hospital where the Yewa bridge had overrun its Bank. While visiting the affected areas, Senator Faduyile advised the residents to desist from dumping refuse along the drainage channels as this could further hamper free flow of water during the heavy rain periods.
The September empowerment materials distributed included bags of rice, beans, Garri, vegetable oil, mosquito nets, beds and other household equipment. Senator Faduyile who was represented by his aide said the intervention was aimed at cushioning the effect of the flooding which caused a lot of havoc on farmland, houses and properties in the affected communities.
The federal lawmaker noted that responsive representation demanded identifying with the people in times of distress, adding that he will continue to facilitate interventions that would directly impact on the lives of his constituents.
“The heavy flood in August left many families displaced and devastated. As your Senator, it is my duty to stand with you and provide succour. This relief is to help you to recover and rebuild”
The chairman of the Senator Faduyile Relief materials Distribution Committee, Hon. Sola Ehinmisan thanked the beneficiaries for what he described as their orderly conduct during the exercise. He explained that as a way of ensuring effective process, cards were given to each beneficiary after the accreditation process to ensure that the materials went round everyone captured ahead of the distribution.
Beneficiaries in Separate remarks commended the Ondo South representative for what they described as timely and adequate intervention While praying for Senator Dayo Faduyile that God will continue to guide his ways and make him successful in all his legislative functions. They called on other public spirited individuals, corporate organisations and government agencies to emulate him.
