Dr. Osunyikanmi, aged 55, passed on Saturday, October 24, 2026, after a protracted illness.
In a condolence message personally signed in Abuja on Tuesday, Senator Faduyile described the late Osunyikanmi as a distinguished son of Ile-Oluji, an accomplished scholar, and a patriot who devoted his life to public service.
Senator Faduyile noted that he received with shock the news of Dr. Osunyikanmi’s passing, describing him as a brilliant academic, a seasoned administrator and a committed public servant who gave his best to Ondo State and Nigeria.
He noted that from Late Dr. Osunyikanmi’s meritorious service as Commissioner for Education under the government of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko where he championed far reaching reforms to his service as Special Adviser on International relations to the President and to his appointment as Directed-General, the Nigerian Technical Aide corps (TAC) from 2013 to 2023, he demonstrated intellect, humility and unwavering dedication to national development.
Senator Faduyile added that the contributions of the late Osunyikanmi to education, governance, and Nigeria’s foreign assistance programme through the Technical Aid Corps will remain indelible.
He said his death is a monumental loss not only to Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo, but to Ondo State and the entire nation.
The lawmaker, on behalf of his family and the good people of Ondo South Senatorial District, extends heartfelt condolences to his wife, Prof. Adebukola Osunyikanmi, his children, the entire Osunyikanmi family of Ile-Oluji, the government and people of Ondo State, and his political associates.
